Help Exchange
Help required on the property will vary depending on the seasons. Our farm qualifies for second year visa applicants. Our large vegetable garden and ornamental garden always require attention. Jobs on the farm may include fencing, sheep work, weed control, tree pruning, mulching, tree planting, building and yard repairs, painting, rock picking and various other manual jobs. We try to keep things varied and will try and match your jobs with your skill level. We cannot always involve you in some activities due to the complexities involved although you will always be welcome to observe. Food, accommodation and weekends with internet access are naturally exchanged for your help.
Medium stays of two to four weeks are preferred and accommodation is in private rooms with a separate bathroom from the homestead. References are also preferred. French speakers are also welcome as some of us are bilingual Minimum age of 22 and males, females or couples are welcome. Preferably non-smokers and helpers with some car driving experience.

ALL YEAR – Fencing, mustering, tree pruning and harvesting, gardening, feeding animals.
SEPTEMBER – Lambing, tree planting, vegetable planting
OCTOBER – Lamb marking, tree planting
NOVEMBER-JANUARY – Weed control, sheep dosing
FEBRUARY – Sheep classing/sorting
MARCH – Crutching
APRIL – Joining
MAY-JUNE – Timber harvesting, maintenance, fencing
JULY-AUGUST – Shearing, sheep feeding, tree planting
Other activities after work and during weekends include bush camping, hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, beach trips and horse riding. These will depend on work load and your motivation to some extent but we generally enjoy a good adventure away from the farm if we have the chance.
